Before their big win was announced at the 2023 Auggie Awards, I chanced upon a great conversation with XR Climate Prize Finalist Ed Harrison, Co-Founder of Under the Skin of Endangered Animals.

Walking the show floor, we were drawn right into the beautiful screenprints he was showing. I wanted to know how he and his brother James created this art that does more than just decorate your walls, but also uses AR to educate and support preventing the extinction of the world’s most vulnerable species…think Pangolins, Orangutans, Elephants, and so many more (around 40 right now).

Under the Skin is taking them around the world to research and better understand wildlife conservation, including a once-in-a-lifetime ride aboard the Sea Shepherd to help bring awareness to the rapidly declining population of the Vaquita Porpoise. After seeing the scope of their work, it is no surprise that they were awarded this year’s grand prize.
