Leia Inc., the company best known for its lightfield displays and the popular LeiaPix platform, has launched a new consumer app called Immersity for Mobile, now available for free on iOS and Android. Using AI to transform flat photos into dynamic, shareable video clips, the app offers everyday users a simple way to create immersive media without any specialized hardware or editing experience.

Built on Leia’s proprietary Neural Depth Engine, the app analyzes still images and applies natural depth and simulated motion—pans, zooms, and parallax effects—resulting in short video reels that feel like the user has stepped into the scene. “Our goal was to create an app that’s easy to download, intuitive to use, and powerful enough to help anyone elevate everyday photos into emotionally engaging, dynamic content,” said David Fattal, founder and CTO of Leia Inc.

Users can upload up to five photos at a time and transform them into what Leia calls an “Immersity reel,” suitable for sharing across social platforms. A small watermark appears on the free version, which is monetized through lightweight ads shown during rendering.

The launch marks a major evolution for Leia’s consumer-facing efforts. Until recently, the company’s flagship web app, LeiaPix, had primarily catered to 3D artists and advanced XR users looking to convert stereoscopic or 2D content into 3D for use on specialized devices. But with Immersity, Leia is broadening its scope and rebranding its suite of offerings.

“We introduced Immersity in May 2024 as a platform that includes both Immersity for Web (LeiaPix replacement) and Immersity for Mobile,” said CEO Fabio Esposito. “With the rebrand, we’re focusing on what truly matters: the immersive experience itself, which is agnostic to the media type used.”

While the web app supports video conversion and export at resolutions up to 4K, the mobile app is strictly focused on still images. Fattal says there are no plans to bring video to mobile: “What it does is a different use case. Immersity for Web is built for professional creators and XR/VR users. Immersity for Mobile is for the average consumer who wants to experience more immersive everyday content.”

The split in use cases reflects Leia’s broader hardware-software strategy following its 2023 acquisition of Dutch display company Dimenco. The merged company is now focused on delivering a full-stack platform that spans both AI software and next-gen “3D-ready” displays.

“Since the acquisition, Leia has successfully integrated both technologies into a single platform,” Esposito explained. “Our software works across all devices, from today’s installed base to new hardware like the Red Magic 3D Explorer. The vision is simple: every device should have Immersity.”

Although most consumers will experience Immersity content on phones or laptops, Leia is betting that demand for depth will eventually reshape how digital media is created and consumed. As Esposito put it, “We believe Immersity will become as standard as touch is today.”
