LOS ANGELES, June 26, 2025: ARtillery Intelligence has released a new report that projects AR and AI glasses revenue to grow from $2.61 billion in 2024 to $13.05 billion in 2029. Entitled Headworn AR Global Revenue Forecast, 2024-2029, the report examines revenue totals and subsegments – including consumer and enterprise spending. This follows ARtillery Intelligence’s separate examinations of mobile AR and VR revenues.
Enterprise spending holds a commanding 71 percent revenue share today, driven by productivity gains in industrial settings, where AR’s line-of-sight guidance achieves operational efficiencies. Consumer spending trails, but is developing quickly due to recent market developments such as Google’s Android XR and all its potential endpoints. Meta’s rumored project Hypernova is also expected to take shape in late 2025, while Snap’s consumer-geared Specs will arrive in 2026. Meanwhile, Xreal enjoys an early mover advantage.
“Devices like Xreal One do one thing well, as opposed to the do-everything bulk that characterized previous AR industry standards,” said ARtillery Intelligence Chief Analyst, Mike Boland. “This focused approach in Xreal’s case addresses demand signals around private immersive spaces to consume familiar formats like 2D gaming, entertainment, and productivity. This is one of many AR approaches developing.”
Swim Lanes
All the above represents a trend towards several swim lanes that each contain purpose-built AR devices. An ecosystem of developers and supporting players then develops around those devices. Qualcomm has built a wide range of chips that power specific points on the spatial spectrum, including its new AR1+ Gen1 that accommodates the needs of AI-powered smart glasses.
In one of those swim lanes, non-display AI smart glasses are validating healthy market demand. Ray-Ban Meta Smartglasses (RBMS) lead the pack with 2 million+ lifetime units, and Meta sales targets of 10 million units by the end of 2025. This has attracted competition from fellow tech giants, while Meta doubles down on brand partnerships under the EssilorLuxottica umbrella, including Oakley.
“Ray-Ban Meta Smartglasses represent a key trend in consumer AR towards the art of the possible,” said Boland. “The device demonstrates that advanced optics – and their many design challenges – aren’t necessarily required for a worthwhile UX. AI can take the burden off visuals as the central selling point, including media capture, situational intelligence, and multimodal object recognition.”
As for definitions and inclusions, this study includes optical seethrough (OST) devices. Video passthrough (VPT) devices that feature mixed reality – such as Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro – are separately examined in ARtillery Intelligence’s corresponding VR market forecast.
