VITURE has announced the launch of its third-generation flagship XR glasses. Known as VITURE Beast, the $549 device sets a new bar for color, brightness, and field of view. It boasts 1250 nits of peak brightness and displays that simulate a 174-inch screen at 12 feet away.
Before going deeper into the device’s specs and market analysis, lets take a step back for context. VITURE specializes in a segment of the XR device continuum that we call video display glasses. They mirror content from mobile devices, gaming consoles, and other devices.
With that simple yet compelling value proposition, users can enjoy massive virtual screens in a private environment, which is fitting for travel or simply upleveling any personal entertainment setup. Importantly, this leans into users’ existing media libraries or streaming apps.
That last part is strategically relevant because it means VITURE doesn’t have to endure the near-impossible task of building a native content ecosystem. Applying a similar principle, VITURE can convert 2D images and video to 3D on the fly, as we covered in our Luma Pro review.
All the above is well-timed for a trend in the XR world towards simpler and more realistic UX design. Rather than the impractical and fantastical approaches from XR’s previous generation, today’s winning formulas – including video display glasses – practice the art of the possible.
Bright Spots
Back to the Beast, it takes all the above principles and applies them to VITURE’s most powerful device yet. This includes the best color gamut, clarity (120Hz refresh rate), brightness, (1250 nits), resolution (1200P), and field-of-view (58 degrees) of any video display glasses to date.
Other Beast highlights include prism lenses, which outperform the bird-bath-style displays in the Luma Pro that we tested last fall. The metal-aluminum magnesium frame is also a noticeable upgrade, which gives the Beast a build-quality and comfort level for extended wear.
Meanwhile, VITURE Beast maintains bright spots in its previous flagships that made them stand out. For example, using VITURE’s Spacewalker App, users can convert media to 3D, as noted, and enable 3DoF tracking for world-locked screens in entertainment & productivity contexts.
This makes VITURE Beast the high score to beat in the display-glasses category. In fact, Tom’s Guide’s resident XR glasses’ reviewer Jason England unequivocally named VITURE Beast “The best AR Glasses that money can buy right now,” – exceeding XREAL One Pro in several ways.
As for how to get one’s hands on a pair, VITURE started taking pre-orders in July of last year and started shipping limited-run early batches in December. As of this week, the device is available to everyone directly from VITURE, or through its main distribution partners, Amazon and Best Buy.
